The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is seeking teachers in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Mateo counties to pilot/implement our new media literacy and online critical thinking curriculum. The curriculum will address bias in communication, how communications attempt to target or persuade individuals, and evaluating sources of information. Teachers will implement either the stand-alone e-learning course or the interactive blended learning unit (incorporating face-to-face and online learning).
Participating Teacher Requirements and Compensation
All Teachers:
Attend a 60-minute virtual training and debrief sessions. Collect permission forms; administer student surveys; complete teacher surveys
Group A: e-Learning Course Teachers
Administer the stand-alone Media Literacy e-learning course (estimated 2-3 hours of instructional time)
Estimated time commitment = 5-6 hours
$500 stipend
Group B: Blended Learning Course Teachers
Implement the interactive blended learning unit (estimated 4-5 hours of instructional time)
Participate in 1 hour of on-site and/or virtual coaching
Estimated time commitment = 10 hours
$1,000 stipend
