The Santa Clara County Office of Education is committed to supporting the health and well-being of students. Public health experts recognize that access to naloxone hydrochloride and other opioid antagonists is a critical strategy in preventing overdose deaths.
The SCCOE, in collaboration with the County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Services Department, and Santa Clara County Opioid Overdose Prevention Project (SCCOOPP), is hosting several naloxone train the trainer events. This training aims to provide school administrators, school nurses, health clerks, and other health personnel the knowledge and tools to train volunteer school staff in the emergency administration of naloxone. School districts will receive Narcan for distribution to school sites after the event. Participating LEAs must adopt a naloxone board policy if they do not already have a board policy in place before registering school personnel for this training. School/district administrators, school nurses, and other health personnel will only need to attend one training event. Registration is required.
