Join us for a fireside chat featuring Professor Cato T. Laurencin, MD, Ph.D., in conversation with UConn President Radenka Maric. The conversation will cover topics such as Professor Laurencin’s life, research in regenerative engineering, and his commitment to mentoring the STEM scientists of tomorrow. An open Q&A will follow the fireside chat.
Professor Laurencin is renowned and celebrated for many things, including pioneering the field of regenerative engineering, championing equity in health, mentorship, biomaterials science, stem cell technology, and nanotechnology. He is the first surgeon in history elected to all four national science academies: the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Medicine, and the National Academy of Inventors.
Professor Laurencin is a University Professor and Albert and Wilda Van Dusen Distinguished Endowed Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UConn. He also serves as chief executive officer of The Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering; chief executive officer of the Connecticut Convergence Institute for Translation in Regenerative Engineering; and director of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Center for Biomedical, Biological, Physical, and Engineering Sciences at UConn.
