Rev. Carolyn Hall Abrams

Rev. Carolyn Hall Abrams, a native of Mississippi, is a retired librarian and the matriarch of a dynamic and successful family. Rev. Abrams graduated from Rowan High School in 1968 as class valedictorian. Carolyn has been married for fifty-one years to her high school sweetheart, Robert Abrams, and the two currently reside in Stone Mountain, Georgia. They are the proud parents of eight children and six grandchildren. Carolyn received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Afro-American Studies with honors from Tougaloo College. After earning her first master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in Library Science, she spent fourteen years working as the director librarian for William Carey University. She then answered the call to ministry, joining her husband Robert in attending the Emory University Candler School of Theology, where both received Master of Divinity degrees. As United Methodist minister parents, the Abrams taught their children to strive “to make things better for others.” Answering the call to preach, Carolyn and Robert each earned a Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1992. As founding pastor of H. A. Brown Memorial United Methodist Church, Carolyn served the congregation for fifteen years. Now retired and living in Georgia, she continues to enjoy preaching, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
